Welcome to Year 5!
Welcome to year 5's page!
Although this has been a bit of a strange year, year 5 have been working hard and learning lots of exciting things.
We hope you enjoy sharing the children's achievements and finding out what they have been learning throughout the year.
Throughout the Autumn term our topic in Year 5 is the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.
The children will be learning about what life was like during this historical period. The children will also have the chance to go on a residential where they will learn more about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons, they will get to dress up and immerse themselves in lots of engaging activities.
Watch out for some for photos of what we got up to!
In the Autumn term, Year 5 have also been learning about 'Forces and Motion' in Science. They have created their own Viking longboats and tested them in water to see whether they float and travel through water. They have also created their own levers and pulley systems which could be used for a purpose within a classroom environment.
The topic for the Spring term is South America. To name a few things, the children will be making their own Inca masks and also tasting South American style food.
The children will also be learning about space and the solar system during the Spring term, where they will be engaging in hands-on, practical activities.
